Subject: Support HB25-1259 to Protect Equitable Access to Reproductive and Fertility Health Care for ALL CO Families
Dear House Health Committee Member -
I am writing to you as a constituent to support HB251259. I believe all Coloradans should be able to access diverse fertility options that meet their needs.
This bill will protect equitable access to reproductive and fertility health care for all of Colorado’s families. It increases the ability for all Coloradans to build a family regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, or income. The current unpredictable and extreme national environment, as well as the unintended consequences of Senate Bill 224 passed in 2022, is a threat. HB25-1259 takes the critical step of enshrining all Coloradan’s’ right to fertility treatment into law
Additionally, I stand with Colorado Fertility Advocates (CFA), who publicly supports this bill as part of their ongoing commitment to expand and enhance access to reproductive technology for families in need. (I invite you to learn more on CFA’s website: https://coloradofertilityadvocates.org/hb251259_updated)
As you may know, out-of- state special interest groups are making their voice heard against this bill as they try to limit reproductive options for Colorado families by preventing them from accessing the affordable, inclusive, and diverse fertility care they deserve. Similar to SB22-224, which was pushed through by these same out-of-state factions, they are pushing for mandates that are:
Largely medically unnecessary
Include reporting requirements that are not in line with national medical standards
Jeopardize donor confidentiality to an extreme degree
Reduce of fertility options -- especially for low-income families, LGBTQ families and families of color.
Please stand with Colorado families, and support HB25-1259 and protect access to reproductive and fertility care for ALL.
Thank you,
