CFA Welcomes Four New Board Members, Helping Launch a New Era of Board Leadership

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Denver, CO | April 20, 2026

Colorado Fertility Advocates (CFA) is proud to announce the appointment of four new members to its Board of Directors, marking a significant milestone in the organization’s evolution and the beginning of a new era of leadership through the embodiment of a working board model that emphasizes a balance between professional responsibility, family life, and advocacy stewardship. This model allows the organization to draw on the commitment, expertise, and lived experience of its leaders while building an infrastructure needed to sustain advocacy for years to come.

“We are deeply grateful to those who built CFA into what it is today,” said Kristina Shaw, Board Chair of Colorado Fertility Advocates. “And this new era honors their legacy by embracing the spirit of a true “working board” model that aligns with the reality of who we are: professionals, parents, and advocates.”

With nine board members now serving, CFA is entering a period of renewed momentum and disciplined growth. Over the past year, CFA has also simplified and refined its membership pathways, expanded opportunities for individuals to engage with its mission and activities, and undertaken meaningful stewardship work to strengthen its foundation, including updating Board bylaws. In addition, the organization has sharpened its focus around two core strategic priorities: increasing its impact in protecting access to fertility care and building informed, empowered communities alongside partners.

“We could not be more excited about the perspective, energy, and commitment that Alex, Lisa, Alicia, and Dr. Bauer bring to CFA. This next phase is about ensuring that CFA continues to serve as a trusted voice and national leader in fertility advocacy for years to come.”
— Kristina Shaw, CFA Chair

The individuals listed below - and newly added to our CFA Board of Director’s webpage - join CFA’s Board of Directors just in time to celebrate National Infertility Awareness Week (NIAW). Each brings distinct expertise, lived or professional experience in the fertility space, and a strong commitment to CFA’s mission to ensure all families have access to fertility care and support along their path to parenthood:

  • Alicia Picou is a Senior Embryologist with 14 years of experience working in IVF laboratories across the country. She is also an experienced public speaker whose professional expertise and personal IVF experience inform her work. Alicia is a strong advocate for accessible and inclusive fertility care, including representation for LGBTQ+ families in paths to parenthood.

  • Lisa White, OTR/L, is a Certified Fertility Coach, Author, and Podcast Host of Soulful IVF. A patient support leader and community builder, Lisa is also a board-certified occupational therapist with 25 years of healthcare experience and has been supporting individuals through fertility challenges for the past 6 years. Her personal IVF journey, including navigating male factor infertility, enduring multiple setbacks, and becoming mom to her one healthy embryo, deepened her commitment to storytelling, support, and community-building within holistic wellness spaces.

  • Dr. Jessica Bauer, MD, is a Reproductive Physician serving patients in both Lone Tree and Colorado Springs. Her clinical expertise, paired with her lived experience of undergoing IVF to build her family, has made her a strong advocate for broader access to fertility care and increased public education around treatment pathways.

  • Alex Monk, Esq., is a fertility law attorney with Klein Fertility Law who brings five years of experience in fertility-related legal work. Before entering this field, he led community non-profits and worked with the ACLU, where he focused on juvenile civil rights, reproductive rights and policy development. He is committed to advancing fertility access as a civil rights issue and supporting employer-based fertility coverage initiatives.
