John Husson

John J. Husson has owned and operated his sole practitioner law firm, The Law Office of John J. Husson, LLC since 2007 initially in Colorado Springs and since 2013 in Castle Rock and Denver.   For the past several years John has practiced primarily assisted reproductive technology law (“ART law”).  He first began his ART practice in 2003 and since then has drafted over 2,000 agreements including egg donation, sperm donation, embryo donation and surrogacy.  John co-authored with W. Thomas Beltz (deceased) and co-published an article in the June 2004 Colorado lawyer regarding Colorado’s then new assisted reproduction law at CRS 19-4-106 et seq.

Before opening his own practice in 2007, John worked in Canon City, Colorado at Rocco F. Meconi, PC where he and Rocco Meconi practiced in a variety of general practice areas including real estate, estate planning and family law.  John and Rocco served on active duty together at Fort Carson, Colorado in the early 1970s in the U.S. Army, JAGC. 

In addition to his five years active duty in the U.S., John also served for over two years as an Officer in the U.S. Merchant Marine on U.S. cargo vessels sailing in the Caribbean Sea and western Pacific Ocean. 

John’s practice includes estate planning and several years ago his practice in Colorado Springs also included adoption, divorce and other family law areas.   Prior to relocating to Colorado in 2002, John worked for 12 years for Allegheny General Hospital, a large medical center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as Senior Counsel.  His focus was general health law and employment law.   He taught on the Adjunct Faculty at Carnegie Mellon University for several years and also lectured on health law to medical students at Hahnemann University Medical School. 

John earned his B.A. Degree at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey.  He earned his Master of Science Degree in Health Care Administration at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas.   He was awarded his Juris Doctor Degree by the University of Denver College of Law.  He is licensed by examination to practice law in Colorado and Illinois.  John’s license in Illinois is inactive presently.   John has received several pro bono awards from the Colorado Supreme Court.  John interned at the Colorado U.S. Attorney’s Office in Denver while in law school.

John is the proud father of three adult children, Alexis, Meredith and Christopher.   Alexis is a social worker in Portland, Maine and Meredith is married to a corporate attorney and they work and reside in New York City with their three sons, 7, 8, and 12.   Christopher is an active-duty Army officer and physician completing his radiology residency at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii.  Both Christopher and Alexis are engaged to be married in 2022.
