Indra Lusero, Esq., Birth Rights Attorney

Mx. Indra Lusero (they/them), JD, MA, is a birth justice attorney who loves to tackle new territory, dive-in to cutting-edge issues and ideas, and navigate periods of change and uncertainty. Indra is the founder of Elephant Circle and the Birth Rights Bar Association. As a Queer, Genderqueer, Latinx parent rooted in the Rocky Mountains/Southwest Indra is attuned to the importance of people on the margins and their role in leading us to dismantle oppressive systems and build a more equitable world.

Indra was the architect of Colorado’s 2021 Birth Equity legislation and has been involved in other legislation related to family formation, pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. As someone who came to parenthood outside the norm, Indra has been thrilled to provide legal counsel to people making their families in all kinds of ways. Indra also spearheaded the creation of "Birth Rights: A resource for everyday people to defend human rights during labor and birth," and is a designing-for-equity facilitator with Black Women's Blueprint's Safer Childbirth Cities initiative.
